Goldkine – Setting the Gold Standard

Everyday billboards, web pages, print advertisements, and social media posts showcase new cannabis brands, retail stores, and events. I regularly see people sporting cannabis merchandise at the grocery store and hear non-industry folks talking about cannabis and their experience with it. Consistently, news sources are highlighting the industry, from local papers to the national level. It makes me sit and think about the history of cannabis and how far we’ve come in such a short time. In 50 years we’ve gone from reefer madness to cannabis festivals, from the war on drugs to home delivery, from imprisonment to ribbon cutting ceremonies. None of this is to say the growth of the cannabis movement happened with ease, or without tragedy and heartache, but in spite of that, it happened. Although we have a long way to go and a lot of wrongs to right, the industry gets closer every day to a world where cannabis becomes less stigmatized, more understood, and more efficient.

The journey to this point in legalization was not for the weak hearted; it was for those with a dream, a passion, and the guts to make it happen. Companies like Goldkine fit this mold beautifully. Born from the dream of a group of childhood friends, combined with caregiver and engineering backgrounds, bound with a passion for cannabis, Goldkine has bloomed into an industry leader in production, quality, and automation. Their innovation, ambition, and commitment to growth are what continue to drive this industry further towards success.

On our recent facility tour, it was instantly clear that Goldkine truly was building an empire aimed at setting the gold standard in the industry. As one of the largest independently owned operations, with a total of thirteen flower rooms, each with 700 plants, two large veg rooms, each with 2100 plants, and mother room with 30 strains, Goldkine is able to keep up with large market demands while maintaining their high quality. WIthout outside investors to answer to, or sales quotas to meet, the goal never waivers from quality to profits. To keep up with this incredible output, they have an intricately designed automation program that ensures every square inch of equipment is monitored and controlled to perfect atmospheric conditions. Factors like humidity, light spectrum, nutrients, water, carbon dioxide, and much more can be dialed in and maintained through the system. Alongside their high end control system, they have an incredibly large team working together in such great harmony to  process and pack their products. We spoke with a few of the crew members to learn about the processes and what their role was. Each person played a distinct role to ensure each product was perfect. From packing the cones, to placing the humidifier, to sealing the labels, or quality assurance, each step was taken seriously to ensure consistency and quality. It was obvious the team took great pride in their work and in their company, which was a highlight for the owners when speaking afterward. The company goal is simple; to build a brand that supports its employees and supporters through quality and reliable products.

While many folks still oppose cannabis, and some oppose the legalization and corporatization of cannabis, it’s important to know that while corporations are big, not everything big is corporate. There are a few gems, like Goldkine, that are built on hard work and the dream, setting up large scale facilities in order to impact our communities and the market in a positive way, and this contribution will continue to drive cannabis further into normality.
